Forensic Investigation Process

  • Prepare and agree an Investigation Plan with the department.
  • Identify any / all legislation relating to the investigation.
  • Identify and request any / all documentation that may be needed.
  • Analyse all documentation once received.
  • Interview all relevant role players.
  • Based on information obtained from the analysis of the documentation and from the interviews, identify if any further documentation needs to be requested and if any further interviews need to be conducted.
  • Request and analyse further documentation, if any.
  • Conduct further interviews, if necessary.
  • Consolidate and assess all evidence obtained from documentation and interviews.
  • Draft a report for submission to the department.
  • Obtain comments / approval from the department and affect any amendments.
  • Finalise and formally present a Factual Findings Report with Annexures to the department.
  • Provide the department with support services to ensure that the proper criminal, civil or disciplinary action is carried out: The Firm will provide the department with an expert witness in criminal / civil action against the perpetrator(s) or assist in the disciplinary hearings, if need be.
